Montgomery, Wanda Nester

Wanda Nester Montgomery, 88, of Galax passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2016. She was born December 30, 1927 in Pulaski, VA the daughter of the late Covelia Garson & Stella Mabry Nester. She loved to sew, crochet & knit, enjoyed gardening and canning and was an excellent cook. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for being courageous, caring, loving and strong.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie “Les” Montgomery, Sr., 3 infant children, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Donnie Montgomery, Jr., Galax; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Juanita & James, Sr. Cochran, Delta, PA, Kay & Dale Baublitz, Galax, VA and Jeanette & Ralph Webb, Hillsville, VA; a brother & sister-in-law, Emory Jefferson & Betty Nester, Kernstown, WVA; three special grandchildren, James Cochran, Richard Baublitz and wife Sherri and Janet Baublitz; a special great-grandchild, Dylan Ray Cochran; her “special boys”, Ian & Isaiah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Minister Jim Conley officiating. Burial will follow at New Dublin Church Cemetery, Dublin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until service time 2:00 P.M.
