John Clifford (JC) Montgomery, Jr., 90, of Pembroke, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Riverview Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease.

Born on November 1, 1915, he was a son of the late John Clifford Montgomery, Sr. and Maude Britts Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Alfred Montgomery and James Edward Montgomery.

He was a graduate of Beckley College and employed by Hercules Corp. for many years in the Hopewell, Va. division. He was a noted musician in the area and a member of the American Federation of Musicians and of the prestigious Richmond Organ Club.

After retirement he returned to Pembroke to care for his father and became involved in community activities. He was a member of the Giles County Historical Society and a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church where he found great joy in preparing and delivering a tape of the services to the shut-ins in the community.

He leaves to cherish his memory a niece, Kimberly M. Kohman and her husband David, their children, Matt and Katie of Chesterfield, Va.; three nephews, Michael and his wife Nancy, their son Ian of Nashville, Tenn., John and his wife Shari, their sons, Ryan and Patrick of Chapel Hill, N.C., James Stanley Montgomery of Pembroke; and a sister-in-law, Hazel W. Montgomery of Pembroke; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor Bill Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
