Mitchell, Merlie Covey (Gregory)

Merlie Covey (Gregory) Mitchell, 95, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday June 12, 2012. Born April 20, 1917, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Covey. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Mitchell; stepmother, Elizabeth Worley Covey; son, Everette Gregory; daughter, Edna Gregory; granddaughter, Cathy Fincher; and great-grandson, Mark Saunders II. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, David Gregory, Don Gregory and wife Sharon; daughter, Carolyn Bussey; stepchildren, Sonny Mitchell, and Daryl Mitchell; grandchildren, Kim Mitchell, Woody Mitchell, Maria Mitchell, Tabitha Mitchell, Annette Gregory, Vanessa Graves, Sherry Lindstrom, Shelba Ridpath, Walter Gregory Jr., Ed Gregory, Donna Gregory, Angela and Dale Hunt; seven stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ellen Roland, Goldie Flinchum, Thelma Norman; brothers, Alvey and Henry Covey; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Seventh Day Adventist, Radford, with Pastor Pat Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday June 16, 2012, at DeVilbiss Funeral Home. Arrangements by DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.
