Sally Katherine Graybeal Minnigh, 45, died April 11, 2007 after a valiant battle with breast cancer. As with all things Sally did, her passing was marked by grace, dignity and courage. Sally was born in Radford, Va., and grew up in nearby Christiansburg.

She attended the University of Richmond and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Art History. Known for her creativity, dedication and professionalism, Sally began her marketing career with various museums including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Science Museum of Virginia. She then established her own consulting firm which was later sold to Cadmus Communications. For the past five years, she was the special events and marketing coordinator at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

Sally was dearly loved by her family, friends and associates for her warmth, sense of humor, optimistic outlook and caring heart. She saw the best in everyone and had a positive impact on all the lives she touched. The loss of Sally is mourned by all.

Survivors include her husband, Christopher Minnigh of Richmond; her stepchildren, Andrew and Emily of Norman, Okla.; her parents, Jill and Patrick Graybeal of Hilton Head, S.C.; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dale Bruner of Cary, N.C.; and her many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on Saturday, April 21, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to two organizations that were very special to Sally: Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and For the Love of Animals in Goochland (F.L.A.G.), which gave Sally her beloved dog, Truman.
