Mills, Annie Young

Annie Katherine Young Mills was born March 20, 1930, and departed this life on December 30, 2014. She was married to the late James B. Mills Sr. To this union was born four children.

She was employed at Radford University for 25 years. She was active in her church as a member of the choir, and a worker with the youth in special presentations. She was active in the community as a part of the PTA at Fred Wygal School, as a Den Mother for the Boy Scots and a Girl Scot Leader, a member of the Twin City Garden Club, and a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years and the oldest daughter Linda Dobbins. She leaves to cherish her memories: Sons, Chris (Jackie), Harrisonburg; Jimmy, Roanoke, Winston Dobbins, Radford: Daughter Donna, Radford; Bessie Burks, San Antonio, TX; Karen (Odell) Palmer, Radford: a special brother, Sherman Lee Young, Maryland: Grandchildren Leslie Anne, Dublin; Brad (Courtney), Dublin; Patrick, Radford; Sheldon (Courtney), Bristol, Tenn., Alicia (Freddie), San Antonio, TX; Great Grandchild, Brittany, Dublin; and a host of nieces and nephews; a special son friend, Alphonso Brown, Pulaski.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Radford with the Pastor Eric T. Ramey officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm before the service. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
