Miller, Clara Buckland
Our dear mother, Clara Ruth Buckland Miller, at age 83, departed her life here on earth on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, to go to her Heavenly home. Clara Ruth was born on December 29, 1941, to Darrell and Edith Buckland and raised in Wayside, VA. Love grows best in little houses and this house was full of love, shard with six sisters and one brother.
Clara Ruth was the heart and soul of our home and family. She was a woman of remarkable strength, courage, and kindness, always putting others before herself. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, as well as a cherished friend to many. A true inspiration, Clara Ruth touched the lives of everyone she met with warmth, compassion, and unwavering spirit. She was an angel on earth.
Clara Ruth was a free spirit and loved life. She was committed and devoted to her family. Spending time with her nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy. Clara Ruth loved music, family gatherings, cookouts, family vacations, and sporting events. She was our #1 fan.
Clara Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Lynessa Guy (Darryl Guy) and Cassie Miller (Randy Whittaker); and two special sons, Anthony Shrewsberry (Tammy), and Patrick Shrewsberry. Also left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Waylon Mann and wife Rebecca (Grayson, Riley and Judson), Garrett Mann and wife Taylor (Lyra), Coleman Guy, Logan Guy, Aaron Miller, Jalen Miller, Nolan Miller, Oaklee Whittaker, a special grandson, Chastin Wickline, and many nieces and nephews.
Clara Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Edith Buckland; her brother, Junior; her sisters, Lois Thompson, Flora Elizabeth McKlarney, Luella Lafon, Betty Lou Poff, Sylvia Munsey, and Geraldine Houchins; and her companion of twenty years, Arnold Shrewsberry.
Though our hearts ache, we find comfort in knowing mom is at peace and wrapped in the arms of our Lord in Heaven. Mom will be forever etched in our hearts. She will be forever loved and remembered.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Pete Dunford officiating. Burial will follow at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
