Wilfred Ward (W.W.) Miles, 82, of Fairlawn, and formerly of Newport, Va., died on Monday, October 13, 2008 at his home. He was born in Christiansburg, Va., on April 3, 1926, to the late Clarence Vest and Edith Collins Miles. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Vest Miles Jr., of Christiansburg; and a sister, Louise Price, of Fairlawn. Mr. Miles was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of the IOOF in Christiansburg, as well as a past member of Fairlawn Fire Department. He was also a past member and a board of director for the Newport Rescue Squad. Mr. Miles worked for Economy Lumber Company as a young man, and he later retired from Harvey’s Chevrolet after 28 years of service as a salesman. He is survived by his wife, Floe Hypes Miles; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Sheila Miles, Tony and Debra Miles, all of Christiansburg, and James Randall (Randy) Miles and friend, Gracia Nipper, of Fairlawn; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Alice and Ralph Moore, of Delmar, Md.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Josephine Miles, and Charlie Wayne Miles, all of Christiansburg; a brotherin-law, Derl Price, of Fairlawn; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Keffer, of Newport; five grandchildren; and a special granddaughter, Amy DeAnn Miles, of Fairlawn. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sebert Rorrer officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairlawn Fire Department, 7358 Peppers Ferry Blvd., Fairlawn, Va. 24141 or the Newport Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 144, Newport, Va. 24128. Friends may call anytime after noon on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, and the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg, Va.
