Miles, Billy Thomas

Billy Thomas Miles, 55, of Elkton, Fla., passed away on September 10, 2012, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. Born and raised in Christiansburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Etta Miles and a sister, Henrietta Keister.

Billy was a graduate of Christiansburg High School and had worked as a car hop for Lyon’s Drive. In 2005, he relocated to St. Augustine, Fla., where he had worked a variety of jobs. Most recently, Billy had worked as an in home caretaker, a cashier at the St. Augustine Beach Pier, and a Shift Leader for St. Johns County Beach Toll Collections.

He is survived by his sisters, Claudette Burnette and her husband, Jim, of Salisbury, N.C., Reba Smart, Ruby Spencer, and her husband, Harold, all of Christiansburg, Va.; and his brothers, Claude Miles Jr. and his wife, Janice, of Riner, Va., Joe Miles and his wife, Donna, of Roanoke, Va., Don Miles and his wife, Robin, of Christiansburg, Va. and Gilbert Miles and his wife, Judy, of Radford, Va.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Billy’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the home of Harold and Ruby Spencer, 1180 Radford Street in Christiansburg. St. Johns Family Funeral Home, St. Augustine, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
