Merrix, Helen Maxine

Helen Maxine Merrix, 76, of Liberty Lane in Pembroke, departed this life Sunday morning, February 15, 2009, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg after suffering a stroke. Born in Giles County on August 7, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Bessie Mae Martin Snider. She loved the music and worship of the Pentecostal Church and was noted for her hard work. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. (Bud) Merrix. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and only child, Janice Diane Jones, of Pembroke; her grandchildren, Angela Lee Harris, of Maryland, and David Allen White, of Pearisburg; her greatgrandchildren, Madysan Harris, of Maryland, David Allen (DJ) Buckner, of Pulaski, and Caleb Charles Lee White, of Pearisburg; her sisters, Pauline Merrix, of Roanoke, Margaret Sue Long, of Pembroke, Bertha Ann Whittaker, of Dublin, Margie Faye Harless, of Dublin, and Virginia Marie Snider, of Pembroke; her brothers, John Ervin Snider, of Pembroke, and Bud (JB) Snider, of Pembroke; and her faithful companion Buddy. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with entombment following in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg.
