Merix, Martha Louise

Martha Louise Merix, 74, of Ripplemead, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2011, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in the loving care of her family. Born in Norcross, Giles County, on October 18, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Arnold and Helen Loraine Price Meadows. She was retired from Dairy Queen in Pembroke as the gravy and biscuit maker. Martha was a member of God’s House in Pembroke. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Merix; two sons, Joey and Todd Merix; a grandson, Chris Merix; and one sister, Nancy Stone. She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Greg A. and Teresa Merix, of Ripplemead; her daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Mitch Saunders, of Staffordsville, Melissa and Randy Perdue, of Ripplemead; her grandchildren, Josh, Derek, Zack Saunders, Jessica Higgs Eric Gadd, Jonathon, and Carson Perdue; her stepgrandchildren, Logan, and Kendra White; her sisters, Joann Aistrop, of Pembroke, Alice and Jewel Hilton, of Salem, and Linda Myers, of Pearisburg. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 4 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Wayman Crigger, and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Fillinger Cemetery in Pembroke.
