Willard Johnston Meredith, 92, of Blacksburg, departed this life on Wednesday morning, September 5, 2007. Born in Hoges Store, Giles County on February 24, 1915, he was a son of the late Arthur Leonard and Minnie Martin Meredith.

He was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church at Hoges Chapel, was retired from VPI Veterinary Medicine Department, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, WW II, and West Virginia Business College.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Kate Albert Meredith; brothers, Aubrey and Arthur Meredith; sisters, Kate Meredith, Nina Smith, Evelyn Tawney Martin, and Vivian Meredith. He leaves to cherish his memory numerous beloved nieces and nephews and his special and devoted caregivers, Jim and Sally Stafford.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday September 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery at Hoges Chapel near Pembroke. Military graveside rites will be performed by American Legion Post #311 in Pembroke, Post #68 in Narrows and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows.
