Meredith, Ted Allen

meredith_ted_allenTed Allen Meredith, 72, passed away on February 2, 2011, in Martinsdale, Mont. He was born at home on September 4, 1938, to Grover and Effie Meredith. He attended Pembroke School in Giles County, Va. He briefly attended Ferrum College in Charlottesville, then served his country in the United States Army from January 1962 until January 1964 when he transferred to U.S. Army Reserves. He returned to Giles County, and was employed at Roanoke Airport for many years. A random trip to Montana profoundly impressed him, and he moved “out West.” Initially, he lived in Lincoln guiding hunters and also worked at Ford Creek Ranch and Crow Creek Outfitters, both in Augusta. At the time of his death, he was working at 9-F Ranch. He is predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Leslie, Alvin and Berman Meredith. His sister and her husband, Jean and Luther Phares, reside in Fairfax, Va., along with their daughter, Susan. Ted’s nephew, Gary Phares and his wife, Ann, reside in Boyce, Va. He leaves many friends in Montana. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the Martinsdale Community Center in Martinsdale, Mont.
