Robert Lee Meredith, 75, of Sinking Creek Road in Pembroke, died Friday morning, August 11, 2006 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a fall at his home in July.

Born in Giles County on August 7, 1931 he was a son of the late Snow and Ocie Woods Meredith. He was a skilled stone mason and was handy in all the building trades.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stevie Meredith, sisters, Ola Evans and Nancy Huffman, brothers, John Lewis, Jim Bill, and “Toode” Edward Meredith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his faithful wife of fifty-three years, Mary Helen Williams Meredith; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Hypes Meredith of Pembroke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vanessa and Troy Lucas of Big Stony Creek in Giles Co. and Rena and Ray Simpkins of Pembroke; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Cedric ” Shagy” Meredith of Christiansburg; three sisters, Gladys Rock, and Geraldine Williams of Newport and “Gay” Beulah Martin of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 4 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Barbara K. Wilson and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery on Sinking Creek Road at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2 until 4 p.m. before the services.
