meredith nancy velmaNancy Velma Meredith, 81, of Doe Creek Road, Pembroke, departed this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke after a long illness. Born in Hoges Store on May 3, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harold Gilbert and Nancy Virginia Williams Martin. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke, and had worked at several jobs, but majored in being a homemaker. Her great passion was the love she had for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kenny Meredith; and her brother, Dempsey Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 60 years, Billy W. B. Meredith; her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Anna Meredith, Glenn and Pam Meredith, Timmy and Kathy Meredith, and Sean Meredith; her daughter and son-in-law, Catina and Kenny Mabes; her brother and sister-in-law, Cantrall and Kitty Martin; her sister-in-law, Wilma Martin; her grandchildren, Chase and Jennifer Meredith, Larry R. Meredith, Chris and Laurie Meredith, Todd Meredith and his fiance, Amy Fletcher, Lauren and Jason Barrett, Katee and Jeff Wickline, Amanda and Michael Lucas, Kevin Meredith, Kelsey Mabes, Baylor Mabes, Santana Meredith, and Tyler Meredith; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Meredith, Gavin Fletcher, Meredith Lucas, Andrianna, Dominick, and Jacob Robillard, Rainer Meredith, MacKenzie Meredith, Caleb Sowers, Braden Wickline, Brigham Meredith, and Baby No. 12 on the way; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Giles Dialysis Center, Dr. Kenneth Walker and staff, and all the staff and doctors at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for all the compassion and love shown to our wonderful mother. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012, in The New River Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pembroke. Burial will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery on Doe Creek near Pembroke.
