Gerald Glenn Meredith, 80, of Pembroke, VA departed this life on Friday morning, April 28, 2023 at his home. Born in Pembroke, VA on September 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Ward (Garnet) and Ruth Bradley Meredith. He attended church at God’s House in Hoges Chapel, VA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sue Atkins Meredith; brother-in-law, Sammy Atkins; and sister-in-law, Penny Huffman.

Gerald was a 1960 graduate of Pembroke High School. He was employed at Celanese Corporation for 34 years. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching Virginia Tech football and men and women’s basketball. Before his health declined, Gerald loved spending time in his garden, playing golf, fishing, hunting, and visiting the guys at the Red Hill cabin.

He is survived by his son, Marty Glenn (Tammy) Meredith; granddaughter, Grace Meredith; sisters, Judy (Bill) Mance of Pembroke; Sharon (Ken) McFarland of Covington, VA; brothers, Dwain Meredith and Kevin (Sandy) Meredith of Pembroke; sister-in-law, Joeann Atkins of Maybrook, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; his good friend, Alvis Jamison; and caregiver and friend, Carla Comer.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Carilion Giles Community Hospital for taking such good care of Gerald during his many visits.

In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel (605 Snidow Street Pembroke, VA) with Reverend Gary Poff officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to God’s House (167 Lebanon Road Pembroke, VA); the Pembroke Fire Department; or the charity of your choice.
