Meredith, Gene Allen

Gene Allen Meredith, 79 of Pembroke Virginia, departed this life on July 4, 2023 at home with his wife and daughter by his side. Gene was born April 21, 1944 to the late Ward and Gertrude Jones Meredith. In addition to his parents Gene is proceeded in death by his sisters, Nannie Mae Runions, Mary Lee St. Clair, Ida Frances Blevins, Lucille McCall, Shirley Eads and Lola Byrd Falls and brothers Garnet, Jack, Doug, Shank Meredith.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lahoma Jones Meredith and daughter LaRhonda (Todd) Kellison, one special granddaughter, LaShae Kellison and his two furry friends Snowball, and Boots. His sister Phyllis (Snooky) Williams, and a brother Kenny (Dottie) Meredith. Brother -in-law Benny Eads. Sister-in-law Carol Meredith. He had many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and caregiver of several years Jennifer Lawhorn. The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice and a special thank you to Joelle and Missy.

Gene attended Giles High School where he played many sports and he was well liked by all that knew him. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the US Army where he served from 1967-1973. He was sent to Vietnam in 1967-68. He came home and married the love of his life of 53 years.

The funeral will be Friday, July 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, VA with pastors Gary Poff officiating. Burial will follow in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Va. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
