Melvin, Thelma Jones Perdue

Thelma Jones Perdue Melvin, 85, of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at her home.

She was born in Grassy Branch, N.C. on August 18, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Emett and Lutie Huffman Jones. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Irvin Perdue; her second husband, Andy Melvin; one son, Roger Allen Perdue; two sisters and three brothers. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Glen Lyn.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Grant and Inez Perdue of Bozoo, W.Va. and Randall and Bobbie Perdue of Glen Lyn; two daughters, Barbara and Claude Weatherly and Oneeda and C.F. Perdue, all of Narrows; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Melvin of Oakvale, W.Va.; twelve grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and three former daughters-in-law, Estelle Green, Alice Perdue and Judy Perdue.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Eddie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.
