Irene Martin Melvin, age 62 of Dublin passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Pulaski. Born June 21, 1952 in Lee County she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Vernon Martin & Laura Victoria Dash Martin.

Two sisters; Rosebud (Jake) Mustard, Wanda Hyart and brothers; J.T. Martin and Elmer Martin also preceded her in death.

Irene was a retired school teacher, working for 30 years in the Bland County School System.

She attended Morgan’s Chapel and had a great love for God and her church. She continued nurturing children with her devotion to bible school and was always supportive of her church family and their related activities.

Irene was well loved by her friends and family and will forever be missed.

She is survived by her

Husband- Harvey Melvin – Dublin,

Child- Max Melvin – Dublin,

Sister- Lucille (Tommy) Hensley – Cleveland, TN.,

Numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law / nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ginny Tompkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Hoges Chapel Cemetery (Bland County).

The family will be receiving friends Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial in her honor may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, PO Box 1046, Dublin, VA 24084.
