Melton, Velma Sue Vires

Velma Sue Vires Melton, age 84, of Pulaski died Monday, December 21, 2015 at her son’s home in Radford. She was born on March 12, 1931 in Draper and was the daughter of the late Sarah Ann Lawson Vires and Charles Arthur Vires. Velma was a long-time employee of Pulaski Furniture Corp., and a member of the Church of Christ in Pulaski.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Reed Melton, Sr.: sons; Joey D. Melton, Thomas Franklin Melton and Charles Lee Melton: sisters; Georgia E. Armbrister, Ida Bell Slate, and Virginia Andrews: brothers; Eugene Matthew Vires, Robert Lee Vires, Thomas Vires, Early Vires and Ray Vires, brother; Charles Arthur Vires, Jr.

She is survived by her sons: Roby Reed Melton, Jr. of Pulaski, Michael Wayne Melton, Sr. of Radford, Clyde Avery (C.A.) Melton of Dublin, and Roby Reed Melton, III: She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas Vines officiating. Interment will follow in Hufford Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
