Meadows, Russell Devon

Russell (Rusty) Devon Meadows, 44, formerly of Newport and now of Covington, died Monday evening, May 26, 2008, in a truck accident in Botetourt County.

Born in Roanoke on March 13, 1964, he was a son of W.R. “Rabbit” and Ruby Smith Meadows of Mt. Lake Community near Newport. Rusty had been employed with Sunlight Tile Company as a tile setter. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Crystal and Stuart Wright, of Elliston; his son, Russell Alex Meadows, of Englehard, N.C.; daughters, Christiana and Mellisa Shue, of West Virginia; nieces, Cpt. Christian Lynn St.Clair, of U.S. Army in Iraq, and Kimberly Renee Basham and husband, Danny Lee, of Ellison; nephew, Pfc. Joshua Evan Wright, of U.S. Army Reserve in Elliston; greatnephew, Triston Lee Basham; his wife, Barbara Ewan Meadows, of Speedwell, Va.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, in the Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery at Pembroke. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
