Meadows, Rubye Smith
Rubye Mae Meadows, 78 of Newport, VA departed this life Saturday, January 16, 2021 in the care of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Born January 27, 1942, in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late David and Rubye Stilwagon Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Russell D. Meadows.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Willard Russell Meadows “Rabbit”; a daughter Crystal Wright and husband Stuart of Elliston, VA; grandchildren, Christina St. Clair, Kimberly Carlton, Joshua Wright, and Alex Meadows; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta Linkous.
There will be a graveside service to honor Rubye’s life Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Meadows Family Cemetery in Newport with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.

Rubye was a very special person to me who I have thought of so dearly over the last 33 years. She was possibly one of the most caring and loving people I’ve ever met.
