Meadows, Oneeda Harrison
Oneeda Harrison Meadows, 87, of Glen Lyn, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rich Creek. She was born in Russell County August 12, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Thomas William and Maudie Belle Clark Harrison. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Adolphus Floria Meadows; two infant sons and an infant daughter; three brothers, James Harrison, Junior Harrison, and George Harrison; and four sisters, Nettie Camper, Lucille Viars, Jessie Viars, and Alla Gray Martin. A retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 34 years of service, Oneeda also worked on the family farm near Glen Lyn, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and sister. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wanda Smith and husband, Clifton, of Glen Lyn; two grandchildren, Clifton Smith and wife, Becky, of Glen Lyn, and Joey Smith and wife, Latonya, of Princeton, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren, Joey Smith II, Courtney Smith, Alyssa Belle Smith and Hope Smith; four stepgreat- grandchildren, Makaela Church, Josh Church, Katelyn Seal, and Rebekah Seal; a brother, Robert Harrison and wife, Pat, of Marietta, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends, including a very special friend and sister-in-law, Faye Meadows, of Wayside. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions please consider either the American Heart Association or the Salvation Army.
