Meadows, Charles Edward

Charles Edward Meadows, 75, of Narrows, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on February 17, 1936, and was the son of the late Ralph Grant and Lelia Virginia Vaughn Meadows. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Grant Meadows; and three brothers, Harry Gene Meadows, Billy Eugene Meadows and James Harold Meadows. Charlie was a faithful and active member of North Narrows Tabernacle Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, an avid Narrows Green Wave, Washington Redskins, and NASCAR fan. He was a retired employee of Federal Mogul in Blacksburg with over 30 years of service. Charlie loved his family and was a dedicated father, grandfather and brother, and friend to all he knew. Left to cherish his memory are five sons, Barry Dean Meadows, of Princeton, Christopher Michael Meadows, of Niceville, Florida, Dwight Dwayne Dunford, of Baker, Florida, Steven Russell Ellis, of Niceville, Florida, Troy Lee Ellis, of Narrows; two daughters, Hope Lynn Meadows, Jessica Lynn McCraw, of Pearisburg; four grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon Mason (Hammer) Meadows and wife, Amanda Cheryl Meadows, of Narrows, David Whittaker and wife, Dee, of Narrows; three sisters, Peggy Harless, of Pearisburg, Barbara Perkins and husband, Walter, of Pearisburg, Donna Meadows, of Narrows; a lifelong companion, Judy Bird, of Narrows; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many special friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the North Narrows Tabernacle Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with the Rev. Paul Terry, the Rev. Laythan Gravley, and the Rev. John Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
