Meadows, Carlos Ray (Garbo)
Carlos Ray (Garbo) Meadows, 69, of Rich Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on June 9, 1942, and was the son of the late Clarence R. and Nita Thomas Meadows. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Noretta Gaye (Bunny) Griggs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rich Creek, and a retired employee of Alliant Tech Systems at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant with 30 years service. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Linda Meadows; a son, Carolos (Punky) Meadows, of Narrows; a daughter, Tammy Lynn Kellison and husband, Mark, of Narrows; three grandchildren, Amanda Spicer, Lauren Kellison, and Dylan Meadows; a beloved canine companion, “Baby;” three sisters, Jean Thompson, of Severn, Md., Alma Jewel Reed and husband, Gene, of Rich Creek, and Carol Thorne and husband, Oakie, of Narrows; a brother, Jack Meadows and wife, Kathy, of Pulaski; three brothers-in-law, Bob Griggs, of Peterstown, Steve Wade, of Narrows, and Alvin Hale, of Blacksburg; a sister-in-law, Loretta Anderson and husband, Ronald, of Narrows; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Jason Smith and Tony Reed, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek.
