May Dell Vest McPeak, 82, of White Gate, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021. She was born June 24, 1938 in White Gate, the daughter of Edward Sheffey & Sadie Mustard Vest.

A lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, May Dell was a devout Christian who knew the Lord was her Shepherd. She worked at Klopman Mills for many years before becoming the famous babysitter simply known as “Mrs May.” She enjoyed working puzzles, cooking and baking and writing daily journal entries. She cherished pictures and enjoyed scrapbooking. She loved gardening and canning and loved all flowers, especially Lady Slippers. A George Jones fan, she loved gospel music. She was a loving mother who loved her family very much. The joy of her life was her loving husband, her three daughters, her special grandchildren and her sons-in-law. She taught us to pray fervently, love unconditionally and live life with a simple elegance. She cared for everyone and she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Sheffey & Sadie Mustard Vest, two brothers, Louis Vest and Carl Vest, and a grandchild, Jayden Aurelius Morris.

Left to carry on her legacy and cherish her memory are the love of her life, her loving husband of 57 years, Wayne R. McPeak; her daughters & sons-in-law, Ellen & Paul Bielema, Mary Ann & Jason Davis and Susan & Bryan Morris; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Bielema, Clarissa Bielema, Renee Davis, Theron Davis, Kara Davis, “Charlie” Morris, Jeanette & Brent Gore, Sarah Schaffert, Jessie Schaffert and Bryan Morris; two great-grandchildren, Cadence Gore and Annelise Morris; her brothers, Nelson Vest and Jimmie Vest; her sister, Ann Sutphin; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Barry & Gayle McPeak, Nathan & Thelma McPeak and Deborah Vest; several very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too many to list.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at the Stinson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
