McNew, Warren G.

Warren G. McNew, age 88 of Dublin, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. He was born on May 20, 1927 in Saltville, VA, and was the son of the late Lona Mae Bise McNew and Gypson McNew.

Mr. McNew was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, and was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hoover McNew, and four sisters, Margaret Blevins, Hazel Darnell, Barbara Blevins and Berva Surber, and a former son-in-law, Randall E. Ratcliff.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myrtle L. McNew of Dublin; a son, Malcolm “Mack” McNew and his wife Janet of Dublin, and a daughter; Patty M. Simpson and her husband Greg of Dublin. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Dublin Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ivy Adams. Interment will follow with military honors at Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
