mcnew_myrtle_laviniaMyrtle Lavinia McNew, 84 of Dublin, died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 12, 1931 in Washington County, VA, and was the daughter of the late Virgie Inscore McNew and Roy Huston McNew.

She was a charter member of the Dublin Baptist Church, and will be remembered as the cafeteria manager at Dublin Elementary School for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Warren G. McNew, only 14 days ago, and a former son-in-law, Randall E. Ratcliff. She is survived by a son, Malcolm “Mack” McNew and his wife Janet of Dublin, and a daughter; Patty M. Simpson and her husband Greg of Dublin; two brothers, Roy McNew and his wife Lillian of Meadowview, Virginia, and Allen McNew also of Meadowview; two sisters, Geneva Louthan and her husband Tommy of Saltville, and Georgie Holmes and her husband Sam of Saltville. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Ashley Lawson and her husband Jason of Dublin, Jason McNew and his wife Cindy of Powhatan, Bryan Ratcliff and his wife Vanessa of Dublin, Wesley Ratcliff and his wife Nicci of Dublin, Zach Simpson and his fiancé Danielle of Dublin, and Seth Simpson of Carrollton, KY, along with 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Dublin Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. officiated by The Rev. Dennis Jones. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
