McNeill, James McDaniel (Mac)

James McDaniel (Mac) McNeill, 74, of Pilot, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Bonds McNeill; one daughter, Dreama McNeil Eanes, of Floyd; two sons, Daniel Jeffery McNeill and Steven D. and Lori McNeill, all of Pilot; and three grandchildren, Bradley Justin Eanes, Angela Dawn Eanes and Elizabeth McNeill.

Mr. McNeill is the 2011 recipient of the Floyd Courthouse Chapter DAR Community Service Award for his incredible service to patriotism and outstanding citizenship. Over a three year period he tackled a huge undertaking and worked on an overwhelming project to renovate the overgrown McNeil Cemetery in Floyd County.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd, with the Rev. Leon Alley and the Rev. Jimmy Kittinger officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd, Va., 540-745-4100.
