McMillan, Carlyle Wilfred

Carlyle Wilfred McMillan, 91, of Pulaski, died on Monday, June 27, 2011, in the Pulaski Health & Rehab Center. He was born in Wythe County on November 28, 1919, and was the son of the late Charlie Oscar McMillan and Sarah Edwards McMillan. He was also preceded in death by a son, Eddie McMillan. Mr. McMillan was the owner of McMillan’s Store and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force and the U.S. Navy. He was a life long member of the former West Minister Chapel. Surviving are his wife, Elise Mabe McMillan; daughter, Carla Hodge; sons, Chipper McMillan and Jody McMillan; brother, James McMillan; five grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening, June 30, 2011, from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Olin Whitener officiating. Visiting will be held on Thursday evening at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until the service hour. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011, from Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , 2728 Colonial Avenue, Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015 or to the local VFW Post, Dora Highway, Pulaski, VA 24301.
