Charles McMahan, 72, of Ballard, W.Va., formerly of Pembroke, Va., passed away Friday, April 20, 2007 at his home.

He was born November 6, 1934 at Ballard, W.Va. , and was the son of the late Dewey and Mattie Mann McMahan. Mr. McMahan was a fire and safety superintendent at Celanese Corp. for 36 years, was a member of the John Dove Lodge #78 AF & AM in Peterstown, W.Va., a Korean Veteran, serving in the elite 82nd Airborne Division as Jumpmaster and was made a lifetime member in the 82nd Airborne Division Historical Society. Mr. McMahan was a member of the Calvary Christian church, Pembroke, Va.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Hill McMahan; one daughter, Kim Marsh and husband David of Stafford, Va.; one son, John McMahan and wife Crystal of Pembroke, Va.; five grandsons, Jonathan and Joshua Marsh, and Riley, Ross and Reid McMahan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Dunbar McMahan.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va., with the Rev. David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek, Va. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the funeral home.
