McKee, Joane

Joane McKee, of Christiansburg, Va., went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 14, 2011. She was 82 years old. Joane was born June 1, 1928, at Boise, Idaho. Her parents were Philo and Ruby Tyler. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Leroy McKee; and her children, Pamala Reed and Mark McKee. Her grandchildren include, David McKee, Julia Reed, Ana McKee, Ellen McKee and Ryan Reed. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Tyler. She went to college at the University of Washington and Western Washington State University. Joane served as an airline stewardess for United Airlines from 1950 to 1957. In 1957, she married Leroy McKee and they settled into their home in Bellevue, Wash. They were active members of Overlake Christian Church, Westminster Chapel, and Lake Hills Baptist Church. They lived in their Bellevue home for 53 years until they moved to be with their daughter, Pamala Reed and son-in-law, Jeff Reed in Virginia. Visitation will be at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Blacksburg, Va., on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 9 a.m. and the funeral service will follow thereafter at 10 a.m., with Pastors Brian Waters and Chris Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.
