McGuire, Joseph Keith

Joseph Keith McGuire, 85, of the White Gate community, Pearisburg, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home. He was born July 20, 1930 at Mechanicsburg, VA the son of the late Joe Ed and Flora Harman McGuire.

He worked at Burlington Industries for 35 years, Caterpillar for 19 years and was the head of security at New River Community College. He was a lifelong member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church where he served as superintendent and as the adult Sunday school teacher.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy McGuire; two sisters, Gay Kelley and Betty Vest and a daughter-in-law, Kaye McGuire.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Juanita B. Hooker-McGuire, Pearisburg; two sons and daughter-in-law, Randy McGuire and special friend Barbra, Pearisburg, and Kenny & Cindy McGuire, Pearisburg; grandchildren, Oaka McGuire and fiancée Kamber, Cora McGuire and Ethan McGuire, all of Pearisburg; one special great-granddaughter, Kayden; sister-in-law, Cathern McGuire; many nieces and nephews and a host of family, neighbors and friends.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with Rev. Amy Bartee and Rev. Olen Robertson officiating with military rites provided by Bland VFW Post #7969 and Bland American Legion Post 20. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until service time, 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin on Monday, February 29, 2016.
