Edgar “Ned” Raymond McGreevy, 86, of Radford, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at Cozy Home Haven in Fairlawn. He was born in Junction City, Ohio on October 18, 1929, the son of the late William and Florence McGreevy.

He enlisted in the U. S. Army in August 1951 and proudly served his country during both the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. After 23 years of service as an army ranger and paratrooper, he retired Lieutenant Colonel with many decorations including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Valor, Staff Distinguished Cross and Gallantry Cross with Silver Star.

Upon returning to civilian life, he furthered his education, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Forestry at Ohio University, and both his Master of Science in Management and his PhD in Business Administration from University of Arkansas. Ned then became Professor of Business Marketing at Radford University retiring after 17 years teaching. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, lifetime sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Radford Lions Club. He was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Greg and Brian, brothers, William and Paul, and sisters, Thelma and “Sis”.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Martha Anne McGreevy; son, Kevin McGreevy; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Radford with Father Ken Shuping officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
