McGrady, Mary Farmer

Mary Ellen Farmer McGrady, 87, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at her home. She was born April 22, 1931 at Bluefield, WV, the daughter of the late Haven Howe & Ada Bell Shufflebarger Farmer.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she played piano and organ. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading books.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Spurgeon Clyde McGrady, three sons, Timothy Wayne, Gary Edward and Andre McGrady and by her six siblings, Tommy, Earl, Andrew, Claudea, Howe and Lorena.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen McGrady; five granddaughters, Gwen McGrady, Cyndi Coleman, Shannon Durr, Amanda Beattie and Alicia Rogers; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until service time, 1:00 P.M. Per her wishes, she has been cremated and she will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in her honor to Trinity United Methodist Church.
