McDonald, Darrell Kent

Darrell Kent McDonald, age 81, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Wendell Nursing Home in Galax, VA. Born April 20, 1940, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Ruth Wilson McDonald.

Darrell was a member of the First Christian Church in Lindside, WV. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for National Gypsum and Virginia Tech. Additionally, he loved NASCAR.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Kent McDonald Jr.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth McDonald; and one grandson, Joshua McDonald. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Snyder McDonald; one daughter-in-law, Libby McDonald of NC; and one brother, James Russell McDonald of Rich Creek, VA.

Military rites will be conducted at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV. Graveside services will follow at the Wilson-McDonald Cemetery on Green Valley Road in Peterstown, WV.
