McCoy, Dorothy Smart

Dorothy S. “Dot” McCoy, age 92, of Christiansburg died, Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at her home. She was born in Belsprings, Va. on July 6, 1924 to the late Joseph and Ethel Smart and was also preceded in death by her husband Richard Boyd “Chick” McCoy, son, Jackie L. Sutherland, two grandchildren, Ricky Sutherland and Chuck Sutherland.

Dot was a member of the Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in McCoy.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John D. “Johnny” and Jo Ann Sutherland, Riner, grandchildren, Teresa Watlington, Barry Sutherland, Renee Underwood, Trena Booth, nine great grandchildren, sisters and brother-in-law, Dolly Hedge, Radford, Shirley and Pierce Crabtree, Bluefield, Va., brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Bernice Smart, Belsprings, sister-in-law, Virginia Smart, Radford, numerous nieces and nephews, best friend, Nancy Epperly.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Sean Couch officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
