McCluer, John William

John William McCluer, passed away on November 30, 2010, at his home in Blacksburg. He was born on August 14, 1921, in Roanoke, Va., to the late Julia Goens and David Childs McCluer. He was also predeceased by his sister, Aubrey See Morris; and a nephew, Harry See. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris Graham McCluer; and his daughter, Elizabeth Anne McCluer Deinlein, of Charlottesville, Va. He is also survived by a niece, Judy See Painter; and nephews, James and Stephen See. Survivors also include his stepgrandchildren, Jay and Lisa Deinlein; and stepgreatgrandchildren, Nichole and Will Deinlein. John was an avid golfer, lover of people and Virginia Tech sports. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va., 540-552-3211.
