McClaugherty, Donnie Dean

Donnie Dean McClaugherty, died at his home on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was born in Princeton, WV on August 3, 1952. He grew up in Rich Creek, Va and graduated from Narrows High School. Later he moved to Christiansburg with his family.

He worked with his father for a while until he started doing maintenance work at Shelor’s and Warm Hearth until his retirement. He did construction on the side; he enjoyed building. He was employed at Wade’s in Christiansburg for 26 years. He enjoyed muscle cars and liked attending car shows, he owned several muscle cars in his lifetime. He was also a member of The Blue Ridge Church.

Donnie is preceded in death by his father and mother Arthur Dean and Helen Louise Meredith McClaugherty; sister, Bonnie M. Neal.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Geneva McClaugherty; son, Todd McClaugherty and wife Rachel; daughter, April Seagraves and husband Chris; grandchildren, Emery, Lacy, Averi and Harvey; step-children Christian, Taylor, Tyler and Chad Coleman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 12-2 pm at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery with Pastor Scott Obenchain officiating the services.
