McCardle, Stephen Hugh
Stephen Hugh McCardle, 65, of Radford, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. He was born in Eau Claire, Wis., to Dr. Hugh J. McCardle and Donna Hart McCardle. Stephen was employed at Radford University for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Timothy Mark McCardle. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Leigh McCardle; daughters, Emily Wong and husband, Mario, and Jamie McCardle; brothers, David McCardle and wife, Karen, and Michael McCardle; nephews, Joshua and Ryan McCardle; and an uncle, Roger Hart and wife, Jean, of Springfield Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Radford Fire Department, 1500 Wadsworth Street, Radford, VA 24141. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 12, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home of Donna Hart McCardle, 6623 Walnut Lane, Fairlawn, Va. OMG! Steve and I worked together and were fast friends in 1983-1984 at Radford U. He and I were fiends about LP records and particularly the blues. He had the best sense of humor and we stayed in touch after I went back to Texas to be close to my sons.
I used to hang out at the McCardle home with Steve, Leigh and the girls to watch cartoons and play music. There will never be another like Steve. I am so sorry he is gone…
