Bruce Benjamin McCall Sr., 90, of Pulaski, Va., went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Bruce was a devoted husband to Mildred for 61 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving children, Bruce and his wife, Marty, of Monticello, Fla., and Debbie, of Chantilly; granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth, of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Opal Newland, of Pulaski, and Lila Groseclose, of Harrisonburg; brother, Mack McCall, of Nashville, Tenn.; and many nephews and nieces. Immediately following graduation from VPI as an electrical engineer, he served 3.5 years in the Army’s African and European theaters during World War II. As a wounded veteran, he returned to Pulaski to work for the Appalachian Power Company where, after 37 years, he retired as the General Sales Manager of the Pulaski district. Bruce was devoted to his family and friends and was an avid sportsman who loved golf, bird hunting, and gardening. His smile and humor will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held noon on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church with the the Rev. Jeff Kackley officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Following the graveside committal, the family and friends are invited back to the First Presbyterian Fellowship Hall for lunch.
