Maxey, Roger Lee

Roger Lee Maxey, 74, of Shawsville, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Alene Maxey; and his sister, Sissy Slusher.

Roger is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Margaret Maxey; sons, Bo Maxey (Tammy) and Tony Maxey (Melissa); and grandson, Isaac Wade Maxey. He is also survived by brothers, James Maxey (Nellie), Danny Maxey (Pat), Rick Maxey (Sharon), Nick Maxey, and Ronnie Maxey; sisters, Barbara Irby, Wanda Long (Jimmy), Sandra Ratcliff, Connie Maxey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Roger attended and was a faithful worker at Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church. He retired from VDOT after 35 years of service.
He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed his time outdoors. Roger loved his family and friends, and never met a stranger.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the multi-purpose building of Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church, with the Funeral Service to begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Wes Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
