mauricio hilbertoHilberto Mauricio, 53, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on March 8, 1959, to the late Raymundo and Ottelia Solis Mauricio. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Selena Sanchez; and brothers, Antonio Mauricio and Raymundo Mauricio Jr. He was a tenure employee of the Town of Blacksburg. He was an avid Virginia Tech sports supporter and marathon runner. He worked very hard on the men’s homeless shelter in the NRV through the Blacksburg Baptist Church and the Blacksburg Partnership. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Gates Mauricio, of Blacksburg, daughters and son-in-law, Sonia Marie and Salvador Mungia, Eva Marie Mauricio, sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony Jack and Sheleen Herrera Younger, Christopher Todd Younger, sisters, Mary Ann Bermudez, Mary Helen Garicia, Marjorie Molina, Jannie Esquivel, Rachel Ruiz, brothers, Alfredo Mauricio, Reynaldo Mauricio, Henry Mauricio, Orlando Mauricio, Hose Mauricio, grandchildren, Sebastian Kole Younger, Melani and Jacob Mugia, mother-in-law, Pat Atchison, father-in-law, Chester Zeno and Janice Gates, brothers-in-law, Jacob Zeno Gates, Patrick Bernard Harvey. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Tommy McDearis, Dr. Don McKinney, the Rev. Todd Millsapp officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the McCoy Funeral home, Blacksburg.
