Massie, Nellie Stevens

Nellie Stevens Massie, 101, of Rich Creek, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011. She was the widow of Taylor F. Massie, of Rich Creek, formerly of Tyro, Va. She was born in Lovingston, Va., the daughter of John F. and Nellie Adams Stevens. She was educated at Farmville State Teachers College (Longwood). She was a member of George Pearis Chapter, NSDAR and First Presbyterian Church of Narrows. She is survived by Taylor Massie Jr., of Cambridge, Mass., Sue Adams Massie Gentry (Mrs. W.O. Gentry), of Pearisburg, Va., and Garland Massie, of Lynchburg, Va.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Narrows with the Rev. Shirley Larson officiating. Graveside Rites are scheduled to be conducted the following week at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg.
