Thelma Mae Hale Martz, 98, of Narrows, died Friday, January 06, 2006 in the Richfield Recovery and Care Center in Salem, VA.

She was born on December 29, 1907 at War Eagle, WV and was the daughter of the late Edward Mosley and Della Mae Beard Hale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles LeRoy Martz, two brothers: James D. Hale and Basil E. Hale.

She worked for Lerners Shop in Newport News, VA for 38 years and was manager for 35 years having retired in 1978. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Narrows where she was also a member of the Early Bird Circle. She was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Newport News, VA.

She is survived by two nieces; Vicki H. Perkins and her husband Eldridge of Glen Allen, VA and Karen H. Davis of Narrows and a nephew James D. Hale of Dublin, VA, great nieces and nephews; Jack and Stephanie Kinsey and family, Michelle Kinsey, Will and Melissa Lynch and family all of Richmond, VA, Steven and Amy Davis, Scott and Denise Davis and family, Stuart and Sherry Davis and family, Allen and Sara Midkiff and family all of Giles County, Jason and Josh Hale both of Dublin, VA, .

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2006 at 11AM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Sunday from 6-8 PM.
