Thomas Allen Martin, 65, of Dublin, Va. departed this life on Tuesday evening, October 16, 2007 at Pulaski Community Hospital in Pulaski.

Born in Giles County on October 1, 1942, he was a son of the late Ira Minor (Tom) and Ruby Lafon Martin. Tommy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Radford Ward, a graduate of Pembroke High School class of 1961, a graduate of Cornell Business College in Roanoke, retired from Pulaski Furniture Company as an engineer with 35 years service and with his wife was a foster parent with DePaul Family Services.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Martin and Douglas Martin; and a sister, Ramona Watts. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda Caldwell Martin; his children, Chris and Amy Martin of Roanoke, Allen Martin of Dublin, Leslie and John Grupp of Rock Hill, S.C., and Jessica Rose of Dublin; grandchildren, John Thomas Grupp, Claire Martin and Landry Martin; his brother, Paul Dean and Julie Martin of Ripplemead; special children, Jaden and Gabriel Castillo and Paige Riggins; his father-in-law, Curtis Caldwell, sisters-in-law, Carol Hurst, Joyce McCormick, Peggy Caldwell, Connie Speckmeier, and Sandy Martin; and his brother-in-law, Tommy Watts.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the New River Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday evening, October 18, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Dublin United Methodist Church, or DePaul Family Services in Christiansburg, or the Humane Society.
