Martin, Sarah Alice Duncan

Sarah Alice Duncan Martin, 92, of Pulaski, Va., went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2010. She was born August 21, 1918, in Blacksburg, Va. She was preceded in death by parents, Winston and Martha Duncan; husband of 47 years, Douglas A. Martin; daughter-in-law, Brenda P. Martin; son-in-law, John Rex Willis; eight brothers and two sisters. Sarah worked for Rose’s for a number of years and retired from Pulaski Furniture Corporation after 17 years of service in May of 1981 from the upholstery division. She attended the First Church of the Brethren and Thornspring United Methodist Church. Sarah is survived by sister, Nellie Slusser, Blacksburg, Va.; daughter, Martha Rebecca “Becky” Willis; son, Howard D. Martin, both of Pulaski, son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Barbara Martin, Forest, Va.; grandson, John D. Willis (Jolene), Orland Park, Ill.; granddaughter, Sharon Willis Richardson (Bill), Christiansburg, Va.; greatgrandchildren, Mike McCoy, Pulaski, Va., John, Sarah and Sydney Willis, Orland Park, Ill.; and nieces and nephews. The family wants to extend a very special thank you to Beverly and Jerry Patrick also Gwen Broadwell for all of the care, time and friendship they provided over this journey. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Teressa Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visitation will be from Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski on Monday, September 13, 2010, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
