martin_phyllis_crosierPhyllis Crosier Martin, 80 of Pearisburg, Va., passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Martin was born on March 14, 1930, in Sweet Springs, W.Va. and was a daughter of the late Clinton Roscoe Crosier and Gertrude Baker Crosier. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers; and one son, Dr. Donald L. Martin, of Pulaski.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and the United Methodist Women. She was an avid reader, bridge player and loved time spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Odell H. Martin, of Pearisburg; two sons, Steve Martin and wife, Rebecca, of Raleigh, N.C., Timothy Martin, of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter in-law, Brenda A. Martin, of Pulaski; six grandchildren, Dr. Pamela Phillips, Dr. Cynthia Southern, Heather Locklear, Bryan Martin, Emma Martin, Ben Martin; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 12, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg at 11 a.m. with Dr. Brad Scott and Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg.
