Martin, Larry James

Larry James Martin, 68, of Pembroke, died on Friday, March 15, 2012 at Carilion NRV Medical Clinic. He was preceded by his parents, Shuler J. Martin and Irene Gillispie Martin and a brother, Charles Martin.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Martin; son Bryan J. Martin and wife, Jenny, of Narrows; stepson, C.J. Hamilton; sisters, Rachel Travis, of Madison Heights and Beulah Gibson, of Pembroke; and a special brother, Tommy Detamore; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Larry was retired from Giles County PSA. He previously worked as a Giles County Animal and Litter Control Officer and at National Gypsum Plant at Goldbond.

Viewing will be on Sunday, March 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Givens Funeral Home. Interment will be at Birchlawn Burial Park. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Chapel at Givens Funeral Home by the Rev. Chris Holmes and Pastor John Jenkins. The family will be having a reception at the Pembroke Fire & Activity Building after the funeral service.
