martin james cliftonJames Clifton Martin, 63, of Pearisburg, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013. He was born in Richlands, Va., on July 20, 1949, and was the son of the late Clifton Lee and Margaret Jennelle Martin. A 1967 graduate of Narrows High School, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post #6000 in Narrows. A fun-loving, compassionate man, J.C. loved the mountains of Southwest Virginia, but loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, even more. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tina R. Martin, of Pearisburg; three children, Melissa, Casey and Kelsey Williams; a brother, Greg Martin, of Narrows, and special friend, Penny; a sister, Brenda Wade and husband, Dennis, of Pearisburg; three nieces, Melissa Reed and children, Karli, Karsyn, and Brayton, of Pearisburg, Kim Wade and daughter, Emma, of Narrows, and Joli Huynh and husband, Thai, of Christiansburg; many special aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends, Bucky Havens, Heather Annandale, C.J. Hale, and Roger Davis. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with Graveside Rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Posts #68 of Narrows, #311 of Pembroke and #145 of Peterstown. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from noon until just prior to the service.
