Martin, James Alfred

James Alfred Martin, 84, of Cascade Drive, Pembroke, departed this life Sunday evening, November 18, 2012 at his home in the loving care of his family, Madeline and Donnie King and hospice.

Born in Martinsburg, WV on September 19, 1928, he was a son of the late William Clyde and Kathryn Cruise Martin. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Bennie Martin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Nannie Radford Martin; four daughters Abbie Jo Martin, Jeanetta Beamer, Marlene and husband d David Hunt, Patricia and husband Rick Wilson; three sons Roger and wife Margaret Martin, Ted and wife Julie Martin, Alvin and wife Beverly Martin; his seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am at the Birchlawn Abby Mausoleum, Pearisburg. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Devereaux, Madeline and Donnie King and Carilion Hospice (Butch Heilig). In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Carilion Hospice.
